Stylish gifts can be difficult to come up with since they are so personal. I said in my reasons you have nothing to wear post that it’s time we stop buying clothes for each other. While I was being slightly hyperbolic, buying clothes for another adult is tricky. We don’t know their personal style as well as they do and we don’t know how they want something to fit, or even if it will fit. So if you can’t buy clothes for someone but want to give stylish gifts to the fashionista in your life, here are some ideas.
- Anything that is not size dependent, like scarves, socks, hats, gloves, and some other accessories.
- Comfy pajamas and loungewear that don’t need to fit perfectly. Since we’re all spending a lot more time at home, comfy clothes are a MUST.
- Books and courses that help them find their personal style and give them tips for their wardrobe.
- Gift cards that are clothes-specific like Stitch Fix, ThredUp, or their favorite clothing store. That way they will be more likely to use the gift card on something for themselves.
Below are specific stylish gifts that you could get for the fashionista (or the person looking to become a fashionista) in your life.

Accessories and Scarves
- BizzyB headbands. These are so cute and comfortable. I have a few solid colored ones and some that are patterned. Plus, they are having a huge sale from 11/27-11/29.
- Sweaty Bands headbands. I wear these when I work out and they always stay in place. There are TONS of patterns and colors to choose from.
- Pony-O hair bands. I thought this sounded really gimmicky but a friend told me she liked it so I gave it a try. I’m so glad I did and I even bought the bun barz to make really cute buns. If you have trouble getting your ponytail to look full and to stay put, try these out.
- Silk scrunchies. These won’t hold your ponytail like the Pony-O, but they are really gentle on your hair. I use them to pull my hair back when I work out and when I sleep and they never leave a dent.
- TopShop checkered scarf, black and white version here. This is an iconic pattern that is very popular. I have a similar scarf I bought years ago and I still wear it.
- Blanket scarves are the warmest, most cozy scarf out there. If you need ideas on how to style it, this YouTube video is so helpful. I’ve watched it numerous times when tying my scarf!
- Cashmere scarf. I have this scarf in 3 different colors. I like that I can wear it so many ways because it’s so large.
Comfy loungewear/Sleepwear
- Barefoot Dreams cardigan, Plus Size here, slightly different style here. This cardigan feels like wrapping a blanket around yourself but you can leave the house in it. And it has POCKETS. Barefoot Dreams makes so many soft and cozy items like socks, robes, sweatshirts, and blankets. Seriously, it’s the softest material EVER.
- Affordable comfy cardigan from Amazon. I know Barefoot Dreams is pricey so it’s not going to work for everyone’s budget but this cardigan is similar. It’s not as soft and warm as Barefoot Dreams but it’s still very cozy and MUCH cheaper.
- Amazon Essentials joggers. 2020 is the year of the jogger pant for me. While I still wear jeans most of the time when I’m working from home, sometimes it’s nice to throw on a pair of joggers instead.
- Mircrofleece pajama pants. I like these microfleece pants better than regular fleece because they don’t feel rough on dry hands. Plus size here. I, personally, don’t like pajama sets because I end up liking 1 piece of the set more than the other.
Stylish Gifts – Books
- Project 333 by Courtney Carver. This book inspired me to clean out my closet and try the Capsule Wardrobe Challenge.
- The Curated Closet + Workbook by Anuschka Rees. I loved the book and bought the workbook! I’m still working my way through the workbook to create my own personal style.
- How To Get Dressed by Alison Freer. I have this on my wishlist and it has really good reviews.
- Style Made Simple by Erin Busbee. I love Erin’s YouTube channel and I have her book on my wishlist.
Online Resources for Styling Help

- Wardrobe guides by Putting Me Together Gift cards sold here!
- Simply Put Together style course by Putting Me Together (I took this course and LOVED it. I had so many lightbulb moments and Audrey explains things so well)
Stylish Gifts – Misc
- Besides loungewear, masks are the clothing item of the year! Nordstrom has some here. Amazon has some here. Masks don’t have to be utilitarian, they can be fun, too, like these from Nordstrom.
- Blanket throw. This throw is so soft and warm and heavy. Sometimes you need a heavy blanket
- Silk or satin pillowcase. Silk pillowcases are great for hair and skin and make great gifts. I have this one from Amazon that is much cheaper than other silk pillowcases. I wash it often in the washing machine and let it air dry and it’s held up really well. And if you’re wondering, satin is made from polyester so it’s vegan whereas silk is not.
Stylish Gifts – Gift Cards
- Stitch Fix – personal styling service
- ThredUp – online consignment retailer
- Nordstrom – I don’t have a Nordstrom store near me but I order lots of stuff from them online because they have absolutely FREE returns. It’s amazing. There is a Nordstrom Rack near me but it’s very hit or miss so I prefer to order online.
- Old Navy/Banana Republic/Gap/Athleta. These 4 stores are all owned by the same company so buying a gift card for 1 of them means it can be used at all 4. Again, these stores have free returns.
- Other clothes-specific stores. If you know where the person like to shop, get them a gift card for that store and they will be more likely to use the gift card on something for themselves.
I really hope I was able to provide some ideas for unique and creative stylish gift ideas for that fashionista in your life.
