Dressing for early spring in the Northeast is not very fun. The weather is so crazy, swinging from below freezing overnight to 50’s during the day, not to mention rain, wind, and, occasionally, snow. So, I’m using the spring wardrobe essentials I wrote about a couple of weeks ago to style a few outfits to get us through this transition.

Style Early Spring Outfits With A Jacket

A utility jacket is a great layer for the spring. This one is not water-resistant but it would hold up well to a little bit of precipitation. I do recommend getting a pair of waterproof shoes to keep your feet dry. I forgot to get a picture of this outfit without the jacket but the sweater has really cute suede patches on the elbows! The sweater came in a StitchFix box but I tried to find a similar ones and linked them below.
- Utility jacket: Kohl’s
- Striped sweater: I got this one from a StitchFix box a number of years ago || here is a similar one || this one has fun buttons on the shoulders || this one is gray and navy || here’s a long-sleeved striped t-shirt if you want something lighter than a sweater
- Black jeans: Nordstrom
- Black rain boots: Nordstrom
- Necklace: Amazon

Wear Bright Colors With Early Spring Outfits

Wearing a bright color instantly feels more spring-like. You can do this for any outfit, not just one for work. I think I got this green cardigan from Zulily years ago so I linked some similar ones below. These pants are great for working from home if you need to look more professional. They’re also a great transition into real pants since they have a stretch waistband! 😁
- Green cardigan: I got mine from Zulily like a hundred years ago, but this is a very similar one and they have lots of colors
- White blouse: Nordstrom
- Gray slacks: Old Navy (I’m wearing Herringbone)
- Shoes: Amazon
- Necklace: Amazon

Lightweight Sweaters Are Great for Early Spring

It may not be cold enough for big, bulky sweaters, but if you have any lightweight sweaters, now is the time to wear them. I love this blue paired with leopard print! A moto jacket, especially one in a lighter color, makes for a great spring outer layer. I got mine secondhand but I linked some similar ones below.
- Moto Jacket: I got this one secondhand but here is a similar one || here is a suede one that would be really cute for spring
- Blue sweater: The exact one I’m wearing is no longer available but here is a similar blue one || here is a lightweight 3/4 sleeve sweater but the blue color is different than mine
- Jeans: Old Navy, they are often sold out but they do restock! || here is a similar pair in case you can’t get these
- Shoes: Amazon
- Necklace: Amazon

Wear Your Scarves for Early Spring Outfits

Sometimes it’s still cold enough for a scarf but not cold enough for a thick one. Picking a lightweight scarf in a fun pattern or bright color really does welcome in Spring! I got this scarf secondhand from ThredUp when I was still playing around with adding animal prints but I linked a similar one.
- Black cardigan: Amazon
- White t-shirt: Old Navy
- Jeans: Old Navy, they are often sold out but they do restock! || here is a similar pair in case you can’t get these
- Boots: Amazon, they’re not always in stock so here is a similar pair
- Scarf: I got mine secondhand but here is a similar one

Tips for Early Spring Outfits
As you can see, dressing for early spring is all about layers and injecting some spring-ness into our wardrobes. You might want to pack away those winter sweaters, but if you find that you need to wear them for warmth, think about pairing them with a light-wash denim or reaching for a lighter weight sweater rather than a chunky knit. Soon enough we’ll find ourselves in shorts and tank tops so enjoy the cooler weather while you still can!
