Amazon Sweaters With the Best Ratings

Amazon sweaters, I hear a lot about them so I thought it was time I try some for myself. I don’t know about any of you but when I think of sweaters I often think of 3 things: itchy, bulky, and frumpy. I can’t pinpoint exactly why I think these things, but over the years I’ve not bought many sweaters, except cardigans for work. So I thought it would be a fun experiment to round up sweaters from Amazon with really high ratings. All of these sweaters have over 2,700 reviews with more than 60% being 5 stars.

Rather than have a really long post with tons of pictures, I divided the Amazon sweaters into 3 categories: cardigans, pullovers, and jackets (plus a vest!). I labeled each sweater in the category with a number that corresponds to a shopping link and a few of my thoughts.

Here are a few quick tips to help a sweater feel less frumpy: tuck it; belt it around your middle; size down for a sleeker fit; pay attention to pocket placement as they can add bulk.

Cardigan Sweaters – long and short

6 Amazon sweaters, cardigan style. 2 are a long, colorblock style, 2 are a long, solid color style, and 2 are a short, solid color style.
  1. Long colorblock cardigan – gray, white, ivory, beige. The color on the listing is ‘L-996 Grey’. This one comes in a lot of different colors and patterns. For some unfathomable reason, this color does NOT have pockets! If you really want pockets, look at the pictures carefully for each color/type. The colors of this cardigan pair really well with a cool skin tone and the length is very flattering, falling right above my knees. It’s soft and comfortable and would be excellent for layering. I consider it mid-weight, too heavy for a hot day but not warm enough for a really cold day unless you have a long coat over top. Fits true to size, I’m wearing small.
  2. Long colorblock cardigan – beige, camel, orange, warm-gray. The color on the listing is ‘861 Yellow’. This is in the same listing as the one above but it HAS POCKETS. These colors are more suited for a warm skin tone and are great for fall. My husband commented that a green top would look really nice with it and he’s totally right, but I don’t have any green tops. Fits true to size, I’m wearing small.
  3. Long solid cardigan – black. Similar long-style cardigan as the other 2 but a lighter-weight knit and a sort of shawl collar. It comes in numerous solid colors and they all look like they have pockets. This style can be great for work or lounging at home. It’s a bit thinner than the colorblock ones but not much. Fits true to size, I’m wearing small.
  4. Long solid cardigan – khaki heather. All the same things as #3 and it’s a very neutral color. Fits true to size, I’m wearing small.
  5. Short cardigan – black. The color on the listing is ‘Fsw001_black’. This style of cardigan doesn’t seem to be in style as much right now but I still think it’s classic. What I’m seeing more often now is wearing them buttoned-up, like I did for #6. Standard cardigan, nice quality and good price. Fits true to size, I ordered medium because I wanted to be able to button it. If I was going to wear it open all the time I would size down to small so it was more fitted on my arms. I also wish it was a little shorter.
  6. Short cardigan – beige. The color on the listing is ‘Fc280_camel’ but I would consider it beige. Again, I’m wearing a medium. This is not my favorite way to wear this type of cardigan but I wanted to show it as an option.

Pullover Sweaters

5 Amazon sweaters, pullover, turtleneck style. 2 are a solid color, waffle-knit style with buttons, 2 are a long, cable-knit style, and 1 one is a regular pullover sweater.
  1. Waffle-knit, wrap sweater – green. The color on the listing is ‘B Green’. I really like this color and style and it comes in other colors and patterns. It’s fun and very warm and I would suggest wearing a cami at minimum underneath since the buttons don’t secure it closed. I’m wearing a long-sleeved striped t-shirt underneath because I thought the stripes would look cute poking out and I was right. I wore this while I got myself ready for photos and I was really warm and cozy. I imagine this would be good for breastfeeding but I don’t have any personal experience with that. Fits true to size, I’m wearing small.
  2. Waffle-knit, wrap sweater – orange. The color on the listing is ‘B Khaki’ but it’s more orange-brown in real life. This is in the same listing as #1.
  3. Cable-knit, tunic sweater – cream. The color on the listing is ‘Beige’ but I would call it ivory or cream in real life. Comes in lots of solid colors. It’s a very cute, thick sweater but not my favorite on me. I paired it with leggings since it’s a longer style. The size chart that is linked on the listing is not correct, I went by the fitting guide listed in the first bullet point, which goes by bust measurement, which I found to be true to size. I’m wearing size 6-10. Size up if you want a roomier fit.
  4. Cable-knit, tunic sweater – green. The color on the listing is ‘Dark Green’, which is accurate. This color is beautiful and really nice for winter. This is in the same listing as #3.
  5. Chunky-knit, turtleneck sweater – gray. The color on the listing is ‘C Grey’. I’m pretty sure I saw Fashion Jackson wear this on her Instagram. It comes in different colors and styles so check the photos to make sure you’re getting what you want. Some of them have buttons on the shoulders and some are a more cable-knit style than this one. It’s a heavy sweater but I would still suggest wearing something underneath since the knit is large and would allow air flow. It fits true to size as it’s supposed to be oversized. I’m wearing small, which is the smallest size offered. Some of the models in the photos must be shorter than me because it shows the sweater covering their butt and it was not that long on me. For reference, I’m 5’6″ with an average length torso.

Jackets and vest

1 vest and 2 Amazon sweater jackets. Sweater vest is fuzzy and gray. 1 sweater jacket is green with snap-closure and 1 is gray with zipper-closure.
  1. Sherpa fleece vest – gray. The color on the listing is ‘Heather Dark Grey’. Not technically a sweater, but I wanted to include it here because it’s so soft and warm! It does leave fuzzies on your clothes, so beware. I’m hoping it will do that less after a wash. Fits true to size. I’m wearing small.
  2. Knit cardigan sweater coat – green. The color on the listing is ‘K-army Green’, which is accurate. The photo on Amazon looked like a softer green than in real life. I didn’t like this color as much as the other 2 green sweaters above. Also, it has snaps to secure it closed but they were not sewed very well and I was afraid they would come off. It is VERY warm, though. Fits true to size. I’m wearing small.
  3. Knit cardigan sweater coat – gray. I like this one much better than the green one, mostly because it has a zipper rather than snaps so it was more secure when closed. Again, it is very warm and really cute. Fits true to size. I’m wearing small.

The majority of these Amazon sweaters are machine-washable, which is something to consider when purchasing sweaters. Also, the majority of the materials are human-made rather than natural fibers so if you’re looking for wool or cashmere, these are not it.

I really hope you enjoyed my round up of top-rated Amazon sweaters and found some inspiration for winter. Even if it doesn’t get very cold where you live, it’s always nice to have a cozy sweater for a cooler day.
