Does this sound familiar: you get dressed and you feel pretty good about your outfit but you know it’s lacking something. You know everything fits well but it just needs some oomph. I’ve compiled a list of easy-to-follow style tips that will help you bring your outfit to the next level. Whether it’s a job interview, a formal wedding or lunch with friends, adding a few of these elements to your outfit will make you look stylish and put together.
I don’t really believe in style rules since everyone has their own personal style and things that they feel comfortable wearing so, think of these as tips to help you bring together your outfit. You don’t need to apply every single tip but try out a few to see how it changes the outfit.

How You Can Look More Stylish Everyday
Add a 3rd piece
A super simple style tip is to add a third piece to your outfit. This could be a cardigan, vest, blazer, jacket, coat, scarf, hat, purse; there are so many choices. If it’s too hot for layering, add a hair accessory, fun purse), statement necklace or earrings, or colorful sandals.
Add texture, print or detail to your outfit
Texture examples: Silk, wool, denim, velvet, linen, corduroy, cashmere, leather, suede, fur (choose vegan versions if preferable).
Print/pattern examples: stripes, polka dots, floral, animal print, gingham, houndstooth, plaid, paisley, tie-dye, geometric, chevron, argyle
Examples of details: zippers, sequins, balloon sleeves, puff sleeves, cowl neck, cable-knit, waffle-knit, lace, ruching, pleats, scalloped, distressing, bow ties, color block, graphics, buttons, beaded

Stick to 3 colors or less
One of the easiest ways to do this is to use 2 or 3 neutral colors. (Neutrals are shades of black, white, brown, gray, navy, and olive green. Most denim is neutral as as well.) From there it’s very easy to get to 2 neutrals and 1 color. It doesn’t have to be bold, it could be a small colorful print, earrings, or a purse. As you feel more comfortable with colors, add 2 different colors and 1 neutral. If you’re very comfortable with color (I’ll admit, I’m not), try using 3 different colors or 3 shades of the same color (monochrome). I don’t count metals (jewelry) in the 3 colors but I do like to match my metals in an outfit, e.g. all silver, or all gold, etc.

Change your shoes
If you always grab the same pair of shoes, try changing them out for something different. Instead of wearing running shoes try a slip-on sneaker. Instead of flip-flops try a different type of sandal. Those same old black ballerina flats? Try a loafer or mules.
Another great style tip for shoes is to match your shoes to something in your outfit. It doesn’t have to be your purse or your belt, but match them to something else you’re wearing. This makes your outfit look intentional.
How You Can Style Your Clothes Better
Cuff, roll, tuck, tie.
Another way to add visual interest to your outfit is to cuff or roll your sleeves or pants and to tuck or tie your shirts. You could also belt your shirt if you don’t feel comfortable tucking it.
When in doubt, add some jewelry.
If you don’t time to think about layering or changing your shoes, just add a necklace or earrings. You’ll be amazed how much difference this makes. You can even layer multiple small necklaces for an interesting effect.
If you see someone who looks like they have it all together, I bet they incorporated at least one of these tips into their outfit, probably more than one.
